The Horn—run by Blow saxophonist Peter Harper and wife Enushu—specialises in Ethiopian cuisine, with a menu that includes a good range of vegetarian and meat dishes, most accompanied by the traditional Ethiopian flat bread Injera and all featuring authentic, delicious (and warm!) Ethiopian spices. So the next time I went, I made a night of it and ate there as well.
The band Blow has a residency in the back room of the restaurant every Thursday night… They will move out to the large courtyard when the nights get warmer. Co-leaders Ted Vining (drums) and Peter Harper (alto sax) head this vibrant jazz ensemble creating richly layered, exciting music with Bob Sedergreen (keys), Ian Dixon (trumpet) Simon Kent (trombone) Mick Meagher (bass) and the occasional musical friend who might drop by and be invited to join in for a song or two.
Go any night for the food.
Go on Thursdays for an excellent combination of food and jazz.
